Legislative Analyst’s Office has lots of questions on remote courts

Anita Lee, principal fiscal and policy analyst with the Legislative Analyst’s Office, said, “The Legislature may want to consider whether remote proceedings would be appropriate for use in all case types and proceedings, or whether state law should have some minimum standards to ensure that court users across the state are having similar experiences.”

Views on whether remote court proceedings are inevitable and a boon to litigants, or a chaotic disaster for the system of justice were expressed Thursday in a state Senate budget subcommittee hearing.

And the Legislative Analyst’s Office had many questions about how it would work and what the glitches might be.
