US immigration agency suspends biometric visa requirements

For the next two years, those with nonimmigrant status who are requesting an extension of stay or to secure a H-4, L-2, or E visa will no longer have to submit fingerprints and a photograph, the federal agency said last week.

To clear a backlog of cases that partly resulted from the pandemic, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will no longer require biometric information for certain visa applications starting Monday.
