Farmworkers, US agree to pause trial, await new rules

Filed by the United Farm Workers, the lawsuit looks to follow the same path as several other court challenges to rules established under President Donald Trump. These challenges have wound down as the nation’s federal agencies, newly headed by President Joe Biden’s appointees, either pull back or rewrite the rules.

While the U.S. Department of Labor creates a new rule for how to calculate state minimum wages for farmworkers, a federal court in Fresno should extend litigation deadlines for the department and the union challenging its current rule, both parties argued Tuesday.
