Biden executive order pleases ‘Right to Repair’ movement

Advocates of the proposal argue that Apple, Alphabet Inc.-owned Google and Microsoft Corp., among other tech giants, force customers to come to them for repairs that are too costly and sometimes not available.

Silicon Valley technology giants and other large manufacturers have successfully knocked down bills in state legislatures across the country that would have allowed consumers and repair shops to fix computer equipment themselves.
