Rental unit owners sue state over new eviction ban

The complaint, filed by attorney Paul J. Beard II of FisherBroyles LLP in Los Angeles, argues the ban violates the rights of landlords under the takings and contracts clauses of the U.S. Constitution, as well as the Fifth and 14th Amendments.

The California Rental Housing Association challenged Gov. Gavin Newsom's latest extension of the state's eviction ban in federal court.
