Ex-president of Peru fights extradition, bribe charges in San Francisco
Alejandro Toledo is one of dozens of politicians caught in a sweeping corruption probe into construction giant Odebrecht, now known as Novonor. The company has admitted to dealing out from 2001 to 2016 $788 million in bribes across Latin America for favorable treatment for bidding on government contracts.




A federal jurist on Friday challenged arguments from former Peruvian president Alejandro Toledo, who is fighting extradition, that he did not take and was unaware of millions of dollars in bribes by a Brazilian construction company to secure a lucrative contract for a state-funded project.
