25,000-word judiciary omnibus bill signed into law

AB 1578 aims at expanding public access to administrative hearings, but not recording them and contains new rules about everything from eminent domain to selling cars to the dismissal and suspension of school employees.

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed the 25,000-word judiciary omnibus bill Friday, which is designed to maintain and expand the public's access to remote administrative proceedings. But the bill lost a provision that would have made it legal to record court proceedings.
