Newsom removes limits on liability in wrong death cases
SB 447, passed by the Legislature in September, was sponsored by the Consumer Federation of California and the Consumer Attorneys of California. In a statement on Friday, the consumer attorneys group said that the bill will ensure "accountability for injury victims in California at a time when they need it most."




Gov. Gavin Newsom on Friday signed a bill removing limits on liability in wrongful death cases so that relatives can collect pain and suffering damages even if the original plaintiff dies before the case ends.
