Mattel investors class certified in suit over understated income tax

U.S. District Judge Mark C. Scarsi found that all persons and entities who purchased Mattel stock from Aug. 2, 2017 to Aug. 8, 2019, and who were damaged, should be included in the class.

A federal judge granted a motion to certify a class of investors who allege that Mattel Inc. and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP understated the toymaker's income tax expenses by $109 million in 2017 and manipulated the company's accounting to hide it.
