Pent-up demand, new clients are driving law jobs growth, leaders say

“When the pandemic hit in early 2020, we were one of the first firms to form a COVID-19 Task Force, to address this new area of law,” said Mark T. Palin, managing partner at Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo. “Now, we are seeing that work morph into litigation.

The number of legal industry jobs is continuing to grow to pre-pandemic levels, with an .83% increase in the past month, and 2% so this year, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.

California law firm leaders said the growth is attributable to the pent-up demand during the court shutdowns, and firms using the pandemic downtime to reconfigure their procedures to be ready to reach new clients in new ways when the courts and economy reopene...
