Plaintiffs blame warehouse fire for odor defendants blame drought
Filed Friday in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the action makes 12 claims, including negligence in maintaining the warehouse and not clearing debris from the fire — such as remnants of ethanol-based hand sanitizer stored in the building — which allegedly made its way into the Dominguez Channel and killed its vegetation, which resulted in the production of hydrogen sulfide, a toxic and corrosive gas that smells of rotten eggs, according to the complaint.




Residents of Carson in Los Angeles County are suing three corporations, alleging a fire at a warehouse three weeks ago is the cause of the toxic and odorous gas emanating from the Dominguez Channel.
The companies say the cause of the smell is decaying plants and animals in the channel, caused by the drought.
