Plaintiffs’ counsel asks state witness about alternatives to quotas for boards

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Maureen Duffy-Lewis will decide on the constitutionality of Senate Bill 826 — which mandates a minimum number of women on boards depending on company size.

LOS ANGELES -- A plaintiffs' attorney representing taxpayers challenging California's law requiring a quota of women on corporate boards on Thursday asked an expert hired by the secretary of state whether she ever considered alternative means to a legislative mandate to fix a gender diversity imbalance.
