Legislature’s judiciary heads oppose bar plans for non-attorney legal work
“They don’t have the authority to take these steps without changing statutes, which means they have to talk to us about it. The letter is more cautionary. They seem bound and determined to move forward,” said Mark Stone, chair of the Assembly Judiciary Committee.




The chairs of the judiciary committees in the California Legislature have written to the State Bar, criticizing a proposal that could allow non-lawyers to collect legal fees and own law firms.
