Recusal has not quelled fights over judge’s rulings in environmental suit

The agency that oversees the federal courts is evaluating a proposal that could require judges to disclose financial ties to parties filing amicus briefs. This is part of a larger effort to clarify and standardize how federal courts deal with potential conflicts of interest.

The parties in a federal environmental lawsuit continue to spar over a judge's rulings months after she recused herself. The case is separate from a recent scandal over financial conflicts by federal judges, which has led to a wave of motions to dispute prior rulings in the overburdened federal court system.
