Murdered officer's family faces hurdles to hold Facebook liable

The sister of Dave Patrick Underwood, who was shot and killed outside the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building in Oakland in May 2020, sued Meta Platforms Inc. in Alameda County Superior Court on two wrongful death counts.

A lawsuit against Facebook's parent company alleging it is responsible for the shooting death of a federal officer by a follower of the extremist "Boogaloo Boys" is likely to face many hurdles getting to trial.
