Conservationists sue over cattle grazing, elk killing at Point Reyes

The plan would permit the National Park Service “to kill native tule elk — a unique subspecies found in no other national park — that ranchers say interfere with cattle operations,” according to a news release from the plaintiffs.

Three conservation groups accused the National Park Service Monday of allowing the killing of tule elk and endangering other wild animals by expanding commercial beef and dairy ranching in California's Point Reyes National Seashore, one of the few national parks that allows cattle grazing.
