Initiative to cap contingency fees dropped, plaintiffs’ lawyers say

A spokesperson for a business group that sought to place the measure on the November ballot refused to confirm the effort is abandoned. Plaintiffs lawyers said they learned that the petitions were no longer printed and signature gathers were called off.

A business group appears to have abandoned an effort to place a measure before voters in 2022 that would cap attorney contingency fees at 20%, plaintiffs lawyer groups said Friday.
