Legislative Analyst urges clarity on court budget

"We find that it is currently unclear how the funding would be allocated, there are different ways to promote fiscal equity, and other priorities -- such as funding to address COVID-19 backlogs -- could also be considered," Legislative Analyst report says.

A report says the Judicial Branch budget is “unclear” on how it plans to spend $100 million to equalize funding between different state courts. The recommendations from the Legislative Analyst’s Office on Friday also repeat its longstanding advice to finance the court system through the state’s General Fund.
