LA County gets money to defend immigrants in deportation

The $6 million from a settlement over unlawful detention of immigrants, will be divided between the Public Defender and the Alternate Public Defender.

Los Angeles will soon be one of three California counties that offers legal services in immigration court following the finalization of a first-of-its-kind $14 million federal settlement over the sheriff's department's alleged unlawful use of immigration detainers.
