Appeals court mostly affirms CalTech patent infringement verdict against Apple

In January 2020, inventors of Wi-Fi coding technologies won the huge verdict in the Central District of California. Broadcom was ordered to pay $837.8 million while Apple was ordered to pay $270.2 million.

California Institute of Technology got much of its patent infringement victory against Apple Inc. and Broadcom Corp. affirmed, but the university will have to seek a new damages trial in a case that originally yielded a $1.1 billion verdict, a federal appellate court has ruled.
