Nonsuit motion opens Tesla’s defense of Autopilot crash

“I do agree with both of you that it really is a circumstantial evidence case,” Superior Court Judge Christopher B. Harmon said.

RIVERSIDE — Tesla began its defense in the nation’s first Autopilot wrongful death trial with a nonsuit motion on Tuesday, saying that nearly three weeks of evidence from the plaintiffs was not sufficient for the jury to decide if a design defect caused a deadly crash or not.
