Hertz accused of discriminating against disabled renters
The lead plaintiffs, who use wheelchairs, claim that Hertz discriminated against them and other disabled renters by only offering hand controls and spinner knobs in a small number of vehicles, thereby excluding them from renting entire categories of cars such as electric vehicles and luxury sedans.
Disability Rights Advocates, a non-profit Bay Area law firm, accused Hertz Corp. of discriminating against disabled drivers by “drastically reducing” accessibility options in its fleet of vehicles, according to a proposed federal class action filed Thursday in San Francisco.
