US Labor Department sues LA poultry processing facilities over child workers
The agency said that the La Puente facility directed minors to use sharp knives, to work longer hours than permissible, and to be in areas they were not legally allowed to be in, such as meat coolers.
The U.S. Department of Labor went after more Los Angeles poultry processing facilities for alleged child labor violations after other poultry plants in the area agreed to pay the agency $3.8 million to settle similar accusations late last year.
