Alameda County Superior Court Judge Noel Wise was nominated Wednesday by President Joe Biden to become a federal judge in the Northern District of California.
Wise is a former U.S. Department of Justice attorney in its environmental and natural resources division who subsequently worked as in-house counsel with Pacific Gas & Electric Co. and then for eight years at her own firm, Wise Gleicher, before Gov. Jerry Brown appointed her to the state court in 2014.
