Attorneys say deepfake lawsuit shines light on developing problem

An attorney who specializes in First Amendment law is optimistic that SF City Attorney David Chiu's lawsuit against the websites will succeed.

A legal expert on Friday was optimistic about San Francisco City Attorney David Chiu's chances of succeeding in the civil lawsuit his office filed Thursday against 16 deepfake pornography websites. The action comes as state and federal lawmakers grapple with how to legislate against the rapidly increasing use of such platforms.
