Parents of mentally ill man sue city over fatal shooting

The LAPD officer who shot Yang was involved in prior shootings of mentally ill individuals, according to a complaint filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

The parents of a mentally ill 40-year-old who was shot dead in their home by the police after they sought help from the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health have sued the city of Los Angeles. They claim negligence, assault, battery and violation of the Bane Act, according to the complaint filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
