Jury awards $8.7M to woman fired by police training agency

The woman said she was retaliated against for reporting financial irregularities at the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training.

A federal jury awarded more than $8.7 million to a whistleblower fired over a decade ago from the commission that manages police training in California. 

The verdict came on Thursday, one day after closing arguments. Tamara Evans, represented by Lawrance A. Bohm of Bohm Law Group Inc., was a consultant with the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST), which designs and manages training for law enforcement officers.
