Attorneys in California will soon be required to report their pro bono hours to the State Bar.
Gov. Gavin Newsom signed AB 2505 on Friday. Beginning next year, attorneys will need to report to the bar whether they have provided free or reduced cost legal services in the past year.
The bar must keep the information confidential but may use aggregated and anonymized data to issue reports on pro bono services by bar members.
