California leads multi-state lawsuit against TikTok over youth safety
The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Santa Clara County Superior Court, accuses the popular video-sharing platform of deliberately designing its app to be addictive and harmful to young users while misleading the public about its safety measures.
California, along with 13 other states, filed a lawsuit against TikTok on Tuesday, intensifying scrutiny on the Chinese-owned social media giant, which has faced mounting concerns over its addictive algorithm and allegations of acting as a potential surveillance tool for a foreign government.
