Cuauhtémoc Ortega, the federal public defender for the Central District of California, has been reappointed for a second four-year term, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals announced Wednesday.
Ortega has led the nation's largest federal defender office since 2020. His second term begins Oct. 15.
