Supreme Court rejects bar's attorney-supervised exam alternative
The justices said the proposed Portfolio Bar Exam raised ethical and practical concerns because the submitted work may be more reflective of the supervisor's knowledge and competence than the applicant's.
The California Supreme Court on Thursday rejected the State Bar's proposed alternative pathway to licensure that recommended participants complete up to 1,000 hours of supervised legal work and submit a portfolio before taking performance tests, rather than the normal bar exam.
