Through the military, I learned what it means to be a good servant leader. The military culture promotes self-sacrifice and teamwork, which translate well into civility, respect, and compassion as an attorney and a judge. In the Navy, I served with a very diverse group of dedicated professionals from all walks of life and backgrounds, which taught me the importance of hearing and understanding other points of view in all aspects of the practice of law.
