For the third time in six years, a rent control ballot initiative fails

California voters have roundly rejected another rent control proposition, despite the high cost of rent. Legal experts weigh in on the reasons why.

An initiative that would have repealed California's Costa-Hawkins Rental Housing Act, which prohibits the application of rent control to properties constructed after 1995, has been roundly defeated at the ballot box.
