This year, California's legislature showed significant interest in the Artificial Intelligence ("AI") space. Starting in January 2024, the state legislature advanced four measures to Gov. Gavin Newsom's desk for signature. Gov. Newsom signed three of these measures into law but vetoed the most sweeping--and controversial--of these measures, the Safe and Secure Innovation for Frontier Artificial Intelligence Models Act (the "Bill" or "SB 1047").
