The Los Angeles County Superior Court announced on Thursday new incentives to recruit and retain court reporters.
The incentives include paid internships for new licensees, students and applicants, earlier signing bonuses for newly hired court reporters and larger retention bonuses for current court reporters. They're part of a broad effort to reduce a shortage of court reporters that has led to thousands of court proceedings without a verbatim record.
