Legislators offer nearly 100 new bills, some aimed at Trump administration

Other proposed legislation includes a measure to protect tribal judges from violence, bills targeting social media companies and aiming to spur housing construction, and efforts to speed up hearings for CARE Court, a key part of Gov. Gavin Newsom's plan to address homelessness in California.

Lawmakers introduced almost 100 new bills on the first day of the legislative session this week. Several of these bills are designed to gird the state for possible battles with the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump over abortion, immigration and other issues.
