Plaintiffs who sued Chiquita Canyon Landfill last year welcome LA County

Los Angeles County's lawsuit aims to secure a federal judge's order requiring the landfill's owners to accelerate containment efforts and fund the relocation of affected residents who allege that chemicals emitted from the site have caused their illnesses.

Attorneys who filed lawsuits against the Chiquita Canyon Landfill last year stated on Tuesday that they had been encouraging Los Angeles County to join the federal court action. They believe the county's recently filed lawsuit will bolster the now-consolidated litigation, which has already withstood a motion to dismiss.
