LAUSD seeks dismissal of fentanyl overdose lawsuit filed by teen's mother

In a motion for summary judgement, the school district said it met its obligations for supervising the child who overdosed in a bathroom.

Los Angeles Unified School District moved for summary judgment of a lawsuit filed by the mother of a 15-year-old girl who died of a fentanyl overdose in a high school restroom in 2022.

LAUSD said it did not breach its duty to supervise, and the mother cannot establish that any breach of duty caused the death. The plaintiff claims two causes of action: negligence and wrongful death.
