The cannabis laws of the 2025 California legislative session

California's cannabis laws underwent significant reforms in the 2025 legislative session, including the legalization of "Amsterdam-style" cannabis cafés (AB 1775), a rollback of the planned excise tax increase to 15% until 2028 (AB 564) and the establishment of expedited research pathways for marijuana and psychedelics through the Research Advisory Panel of California (AB 1234).
