U.S. District Judge Rita F. Lin expressed reluctance to certify a nationwide class in a lawsuit against SanDisk over malfunctioning hard drives, given that the case revolves around a state law, but didn't rule out the possibility at a hearing Tuesday.
The complaint alleges SanDisk violated California's Unfair Competition Law, False Advertising Law and Consumer Legal Remedies Act by failing to notify customers of a defect that caused their data to be deleted.
