Denaturalization push remains rare despite tough rhetoric

Justice Department announcements of two new denaturalization petitions underscore how infrequently the government seeks to strip citizenship, immigration lawyers say, despite Trump-era pledges to expand the practice.

Earlier this week, the U.S. Justice Department announced it had filed denaturalization petitions against two men, both convicted of serious sex crimes. But the announcements highlighted how few such cases have been filed amid a wider crackdown on immigration.
