Presiding judge warns of famine-like budget year for Sacramento
Sacramento County Superior Court Presiding Judge Bunmi O. Awoniyi warned that the state will face a $73 billion budget deficit, with Sacramento County being in a more precarious situation than many other counties.
SACRAMENTO — When a presiding judge references famine, vultures and blood pacts while speaking to an attorneys’ association, it’s rarely good news.
“Obviously, you are all aware of the budget,” Sacramento County Superior Court Presiding Judge Bunmi O. Awoniyi said during her “State of the Sacramento Court” address to the Capitol City Trial Lawyers Association on Wednesday. “We are not entering a great budget year.”
