Families of Pepperdine students killed walking near 'Dead Man's Curve' file lawsuit

The complaints detail 217 reported auto collisions on the short stretch of highway between 2012 and 2023.

The parents of four Pepperdine University students killed on a stretch of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu known ominously as Dead Man's Curve, along with a fifth injured student, have filed lawsuits against multiple government entities.

The suits, filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, name as defendants the State of California, Caltrans, the California Coastal Commission, Los Angeles County, and the City of Malibu.
