4 counties' silicosis cases likely to have one LA judge
One Los Angeles County judge is likely to oversee coordinated silicosis lawsuits from four California counties, following the asbestos model, despite defense objections, as plaintiffs allege lung disease from countertop dust.




It is virtually certain that the silicosis cases filed in four California counties will be coordinated and managed by a judge in Los Angeles.
The plaintiffs expect the silicosis litigation to follow Los Angeles County's asbestos model, in which all the cases filed in Southern California were coordinated in one department. That asbestos judge ruled on the pleadings and motions until the cases were ready for trial, and they were then assigned to whoever was available.
