POMONA - Superior Court Judge Philip Marshall's sense of duty only grew after he became a crime victim.

"I was held up at an ATM in college," he recalled. "The guy put his hand over my money. I had studied martial arts for a few years, and instinctively, I took him down. I actually started lecturing him: 'You shouldn't rob people - that's not a good thing to do!'"
