LOS ANGELES — It’s rare to see a judge cry, but U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Barry Russell freely shed tears in his chambers as he described one of his most memorable cases.
The matter involved a woman suing her estranged son and daughter-in-law for fraud. Realizing son and mother hadn’t spoken in years, Russell encouraged the parties to have a brief conversation outside to see if they could resolve their issues.
