LOS ANGELES - Uniformed cops sit shoulder-to-shoulder in the jury box with undercover officers so scruffily attired and coifed that they resemble some defendants.
Double rows of jail inmates dressed in county blues sit handcuffed in wooden chairs next to the lockup door, and lawyers who can't find chairs lean against the jury box, digging through bulging briefcases, calling out clients' names and searching the standing-room-only spectator area for a response.<...
