RIVERSIDE -- A decade ago, Riverside Superior Court Commissioner Joan F. Ettinger, who was adopted as an infant, summoned the courage to contact her birth mother.
Ettinger was surprised by how much they resembled each other. She also discovered she had a half-brother and a half-sister.
"I wanted to find my birth mother to get a better understanding of my roots," Ettinger said. "It was a very emotional process."
