"One of the pros of being in house was being able to do a deep dive into a particular industry area and gain a ton of knowledge about one particular area," Roy said. "But I'm excited to be working on a variety of different matters going forward and expanding my practice into other areas as well."
As a member of Latham's environment, land and resources department and the project siting and approvals practice, Roy specializes in energy and infrastructure projects, mixed use developments and commercial real estate projects. She helps clients obtain approval for projects and defends those when necessary in litigation or administrative proceedings. Her clients include utility companies and infrastructure developers.
"I really enjoyed working with the team before. I felt that I learned a lot working with that team and really enjoyed all of my colleagues," Roy said of her decision to return to the firm. "But, from a professional standpoint and business standpoint, I was really attracted to both the depth and the breadth of the environmental practice and the opportunity to work on projects in California, but also nationally because of the national presence in D.C., New York and Houston."
She looks forward to mentoring and developing younger attorneys and taking on projects that develop cleaner energy supplies, she said.
