Charles J. Biederman joined Greenberg Traurig LLP as shareholder in Los Angeles.

Greenberg Traurig LLP expanded its entertainment and media practice in Los Angeles with the addition of music attorney Charles J. Biederman.
He transferred from Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP, where he had been for 16 years.
Biederman said he was drawn to return to Greenberg Traurig because of its international footprint. He was an associate at the firm from 1998 to 1999.
"The entertainment marketplace is a global marketplace,'' Biederman said. "When I'm doing licensing deals in Europe or Asia, having experienced colleagues in markets like London and Milan is incredibly helpful."
"I know that for any question that comes up, there's a Greenberg Traurig lawyer somewhere in the world who can answer it,' he explained.
Having worked on over $1 billion in music catalog deals, Biederman represents artists including Miles Davis and country singer Dierks Bentley.
He also represents entrepreneurs and companies in transactions related to music, television, film, fashion, branding, advertising and digital media.

Biederman represented Round Hill Music Royalty Fund Ltd. in its acquisition in February of a publishing catalog valued at $363 million that included songs from The Beatles, Marvin Gaye, Celine Dion and the Backstreet Boys.
In April, he represented Downtown Music Holdings in the sale of 145,000 copyrights to Concord Music, which included music by Aretha Franklin, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie and Adele.
Biederman graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School.

Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP added former federal prosecutor Kimberly D. Jaimez as a partner, expanding its litigation practice in Los Angeles.

Jaimez, who was an assistant U.S. attorney in the Central District's criminal division, will specialize in corporate investigations, government enforcement, general litigation and white collar defense.

Jaimez investigated and prosecuted international money laundering schemes, health care fraud, embezzlement, wire and mail fraud, drug conspiracies, cyber extortion and blackmail matters.

One of her most notable cases was a multiyear investigation and indictment of the founder of 1-800-Get-Thin for a $250 million fraudulent billing scheme involving fake sleep studies and unnecessary lap band surgeries.
